As you know, we like to do more than roofing and siding. Every year, one of the most engaging and fun sponsorships we partake in is our Bloomington Thunder sponsorship. We do youth jersey giveaways and award the Aloha Hard Hat Player of the Game for outstanding play each week. We even partner with the Bloomington Boy’s and Girl’s club to host their “Youth of the Month” at home games. With it being October, the boys start their season on Saturday and we want to introduce you to their new brand and look:
Aloha Construction Inc. now sponsors the Central Illinois Flying Aces USHL hockey team!
Beyond the new look, the Flying Aces have a new head coach for this upcoming 2017-18 season. Previously the assistant coach, Mike Watt takes the reigns! With a 2016-17 record of 25-27-5-3, the Flying Aces and their new head coach look to get this team back to the postseason. The last time they made it was when they fell one game short of the 2016 Clark Cup Final.
The club returns 10 players in total. Stand out players returning include forwards Cameron Burke (the team’s leading scorer from last season), Marko Reifenberger (11 PTS) and Calen Kiefiuk. League veteran Regen Cavanagh also joins the team this season from the Dubuque Fighting Saints.
This year, the team’s blue line also boasts four veteran defenseman that look to hold it down! Bloomington native and University of Wisconsin commit Brady Smith, Simon Butala, Jason Smallidge and Charlie Raith bring just under 200 games of USHL experience between the three.
Goaltending is strong with this team. The group includes University of Minnesota-Duluth commit Zach Stejskal. Zach plays like a brick wall posting a stellar 1.85 GAA and .936 SV% last season. Before that, he led the Grand Rapids High to a Class 2A Minnesota high school state championship. Erik Gordon, who spent last season on the team’s affiliate list, will also be in the mix after a year in which he posted a 24-3-0 record, a .928 SV% and 1.89 GAA between the NAHL’s Fairbank Ice Dogs and Lone Star Brahmas en route to him being named to the All-NAHL Second Team and NAHL All-Rookie Team.
With all-star caliber talent and with us backing them up, we encourage everyone to check out our boys down state! The season starts this Saturday. Go Aces!
